There are days where the LAST thing we feel about ourselves is positive. Ever been there? Some days, This may feel justified {it feels we just can’t to anything right } we’re just having a bad day. Other days- were doing great, yet it feels impossible to believe that.
The best way to combat against those lies in our head, for BOTH types of days, is to remind ourselves WHY we’re proud of ourselves or what we love about ourselves! To speak to ourselves the way we would speak to our kids, our partners, or our best friends. Would you ever tell your best friend that they are worthless? That they will never measure up? If not, why is it okay for you to say that to yourself?
We talk to ourselves more than any body in the world {statistically, we are physically with ourselves 100% of our days- see what I did there 😉 } Yet, we are often the most critical of ourselves. We need to remember to give ourselves grace, the same way we give grace to our loved ones. Give yourself permission to turn toward your emotions without any judgement. Give yourself the words of affirmation you long for and deserve. Yes, we will mess up. And we still have the opportunity to speak to ourselves with love, grace, and respect.
Today, I am proud of myself for sitting in my uncomfortable feelings.
Today, I am proud of myself for waking up and getting to work.
Today, I am proud of myself for laughing off the embarrassing moment.
Today, I am proud of myself for getting that promotion.
Today, I am proud of myself for getting g out of that toxic relationship.
Today, I am proud of myself for accepting the constructive criticism my boss gave to me at work.
Today, I am proud of myself for being me.
How we talk to ourselves affects not only how we react to ourselves and our minor mistakes, but also can affect how we respond to our outside worlds and our loved ones.
So let’s make this a habit and let’s start today, one day at a time. What are you proud of yourself for today?!
