This training will incorporate psychoeducation and experiential learning. The psychoeducation portion of the training will review trauma and the brain, including a review of Polyvagal Theory, nervous system regulation, and the window of tolerance. The role of the therapist creating safety within sessions will also be discussed. These topics are foundational to why and how Sandplay can be effective for processing trauma. This training will also take particpants through the history of Sandplay, when it’s appropriate to use with clients, why it’s effective, what clinicians need to get started, and how to document sessions. Finally, participants will be able to practice sandplay during the experiential portion of the training and will able to get immediate feedback and support from Barbara.
